We arrived in Alaska at 4:15am from China via LA. It was my longest birthday, 36 hours, and stretching across 2 continents. We all slept more than expected in the 18 hours of flight time, so arrived ready for adventure. On the way to our hotel, we stopped to take in the fact that we are in ALASKA!
We settled into Girdwood, had a delicious B&B breakfast and went for our first hike
to see Virgin Falls.
Ellie tried out some of her rock-climbing skills.
While we waited for the others to arrive, we want on our second hike, to the Beaver Pond, which led us not to beavers, but to a labyrinth and a shrine. Not sure which God of goddessis being honored, but we paid our respects and left it in peace.
Dinner was a very American pizza restaurant with the full group, and then no one could keep their eyes open so we went to bed.
