Full day in the Tetons

We started with a couple of ranger talks,  getting our bearings.  Phil and Jeremiah took a 2 mile hike while Ellie and I stayed to learn about the animals. We returned to camp for an hour and had lunch,  then returned for a ranger-led hike for three hours, learning about the geology,  history,  flora and fauna. Below are a couple of pictures from the hike,  including a tree with grizzly bear claw marks. It was a nice little hike,  about 3.5 miles. Then we raved back to out campsite to batten down the hatches because it began to rain. We put up all the tarps we had,  including one over our picnic table. It was raining too long to start a fire for dinner,  so we cooked on it camp stove (hamburgers and cowboy beans ), and then went on a wildlife hunt at dusk. We saw some elk,  a river otter,  and maybe a muskrat. No moose,  though we tried hard!  At the very end,  we heard from Alex who made it home on his three flights and was getting ready for his trip to Jackson. Happily a drier night.
