Rocky Mountain camping

First night of Rocky Mountain camping! Everyone pitched in to set up camp,  then it began to rain.  Three of us rushed out to buy more tarps,  while the other two tried to batten down the hatches (nautical metaphors make sense with camping,  I think). Tarps were the answer. We made 'hobo packets' for dinner (thank you Rachael and Katie). Lesson learned: cut potatoes thinner. Then there were  smores for dessert.

We put all our food and toiletries into the bear box,  which has a cover over the latch to keep big bear paws away,  and a carabiner clip attached to a second lock for good measure. With no food our anything fragrant in our tents,  we went to bed and were woken periodically by rain but no bears.    Between tents and tarps,  we stayed pretty dry.
