Grand Tetons second full day

Having learned a lot through yesterday's ranger-led day,  we decided to strike out on our own. After pancakes and eggs as a treat after the wet night,  we set of for Jenny Lake to hike to Hidden Falls. We were a third of the way up when we got a tip off that a moose was on a side trail. We scampered back down but the moose was gone.  One hiker suggested that if we went around the loop,  we might see him still.  The loop was only a mile,  so we set off. Finally off the beaten path, we walked through wildflower meadows,  forest,  past creeks, up and down hills and valleys. We never did find that moose,  but what a lovely unpopulated walk! We returned to the trail and went the rest of the way along with many other hikers ,  but the falls were gorgeous,  and it was Ellie's first glimpse of a waterfall,  so again,  totally worth it!
